Systems analyst
Help us unlock the legacy systems higher-ed runs on. Reporting into Product, you’ll be the analytical force multiplier our Integration & Data team needs to keep up with how fast we’re growing.
Modernizing how higher-ed serves today’s students
DegreeSight is unlocking the legacy systems higher-ed runs on so colleges and universities can finally recruit, evaluate, and enroll transfer students at the speed today’s students actually move.
Who we serve
Colleges, universities, and higher-ed systems modernizing how they recruit, evaluate, and enroll transfer students.
What we build
An AI-powered platform that automates transfer credit evaluation, accelerates admissions, and drives enrollment growth.
Why it matters
Every clear answer we help an institution give is a student who enrolls, finishes a degree, and gets to write the rest of their story.
The capacity we need built
DegreeSight is growing fast, and so is the complexity of the systems and data pipelines that power our platform. We’re looking for a Systems Analyst to join our Product & Technology team and provide hands-on analytical and technical support across our integration landscape.
Reporting into the Product organization, you’ll work closely with our Product Managers of Integration & Data and our Technical Integration Manager to ensure timely, high-quality responses to technical requests, thorough documentation of system behaviors, and rigorous analysis to inform product and engineering decisions.
This role was created specifically to expand our team’s capacity. You’ll be a force multiplier — reducing response latency to internal and external stakeholders and helping our product managers stay ahead of a rapidly growing workload.
The shape of the work
Four overlapping responsibilities, one analytical backbone.
Systems analysis & documentation
- Analyze and document current-state data flows, system integrations, and API behaviors across DegreeSight’s platform.
- Translate complex technical requirements into clear functional specifications, data dictionaries, and process flow diagrams.
- Maintain living documentation of integration configurations, field mappings, and system dependencies.
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement in existing integrations and data pipelines.
Stakeholder & request management
- Serve as a responsive first point of contact for technical questions from internal teams, implementation partners, and customers.
- Triage incoming integration and data requests, gather requirements, and coordinate with product and engineering to drive resolution.
- Track open requests, surface blockers early, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
Data analysis & reporting
- Query and analyze data across source systems to validate integration accuracy, diagnose issues, and support product decisions.
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports that provide visibility into integration health, data quality, and platform usage.
- Support QA efforts for new integrations and data features by designing test cases and validating outputs.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Partner with the PM of Integration & Data and Technical Integration Manager to prioritize and execute on the integration roadmap.
- Collaborate with engineering, implementation, and customer success teams to ensure seamless delivery of integration projects.
- Contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and product discovery activities as a technical voice.
The shape of the candidate
Analytical instincts first. Here’s what actually matters.
Must-have
- 3+ years of experience in a systems analyst, technical product analyst, business analyst, or closely related role.
- Strong proficiency with SQL; comfortable querying relational databases independently.
- Experience working with APIs (REST/SOAP), data integration tools, or ETL/ELT workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear, structured technical documentation.
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate between technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly organized, with a track record of managing multiple concurrent requests.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with SIS systems (Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft) and CRM tools.
- Working knowledge of agile/scrum methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Exposure to data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, or similar).
- Experience working within a startup or high-growth technology environment.
A 30 / 90 / 180-day arc
How we’ll know it’s working.
30days
Develop a solid understanding of DegreeSight’s integration architecture, establish yourself as a reliable resource for technical questions, and begin contributing to active projects.
90days
Independently handle the majority of incoming technical analysis requests with minimal escalation, meaningfully improve documentation coverage, and proactively surface insights.
180days
You’re a trusted partner across the team, enabling Integration & Data to take on greater strategic work because day-to-day analytical demand is well-managed.
